River City Rowing Club (RCRC) is looking for individuals with a fair level of athletic
ability, who would like to improve their conditioning through rowing and
who welcome the challenges and rewards of this great team sport.
The course is co-ed and is coached in a well-organized and non-competitive
atmosphere.
Learn to Row is an annual 3-week program offered by RCRC to introduce the fundamentals of rowing to beginners with no rowing experience.
Participants will experience sweep rowing in 8 person shells. Each session consists
of 9 "on the water" classes in which rowers learn the technique
and execution of the rowing stroke, as well as rowing commands, boat
handling, and the intricacies of crew dynamics.
Because of the limited number of seats available and the dramatic learning
curve, participants should register for the session in which they will
be able to attend almost all of the practices.
Attendance at the first practice is mandatory.
